The TenBox is compatible* with DirecTV Plus HD DVRs and many DVRs featuring an enabled eSATA or USB port, or as safe backup for computer and media files.

DirecTV subscribers love the versatility and ease of operation of the HR20/21/22/23 DVRs, but most agree that with so many programs to record, its 300 GB recording capacity is not enough. Too often it is necessary to delete programs that have not been watched yet in order to make room for newer recordings.

Using a TenBox with the DirecTV Plus HD DVR increases its recording capability to up to 2 Terabytes (2000 GB) that is nearly 700% the original capacity! This means more than 1300 hours of regular programming, or more than 330 hours of Hi Def (Mpeg 4) programming!

Compatibility
* All TenBoxes TB1000, TB1500, TB2000 and TB3000 are compatible with all DirecTV Plus HD DVR except for HR21-100 and HR22-100 which are compatible with TB1000 and TB1500. Since DirecTV upgrades their DVR's software periodically, it is possible that these models will accept larger external capacities in the future.
** DirecTV Plus HD DVRs are not ready yet to function with 3TB external capacity. Until then, the TenBox TB3000 works perfectly when setting the “Box Mode” to Mirror Drive configuration, safely recording programs as duplicate on its 2 1.5 TB HDD, so programs are not lost in the event of single drive failure.
Reliability and state of the art EngineeringTenBox inside
TenBox was designed to be used with DirecTV Plus HD DVR. In addition to providing massive storage capacity, it has overcome the 3 most common problems of data storage boxes in the market: excessive heating with continuous use that may result in failure and loss of programming; excessive noise coming from the unit; computer-like "looks". For extra safety, a Mirror Mode setting records programs duplicate on 2 HDD, so programs are not lost even if one drive fails.

While noises such as clicks and hums may be acceptable for an office or studio, they are annoying in a living room or bedroom, especially during the quiet night hours. TenBox has minimized noise using the best and most silent Hard Disk drives. HDDs and fans are mounted on custom made hardware with special anti vibration materials, reducing noise and hum to almost zero.
Ultra Efficient Cooling SystemTenBox cooling system
TenBox solves the heating problem with the use of 3 extra silent fans (magnetic levitation technology) and especially designed heat dissipating hardware that creates an air flow keeping the system within operating temperature range at all times. A “cooling mode” switch allows for selection of “quiet” or “maximum” depending on working environment.
