Seagate TenBox Test Report
Seagate This report lists and describes the series of tests that Seagate performed on the TenLab Tenbox TB1000 HD-DVR expander unit with the Seagate 500GB SATA drive.
The purpose of the mechanical testing at a system level is to gain confidence of the mechanical reliability and performance of the drives while mounted in the Tenbox system.

 Test Results (condensed):

Level of noise generated from the TenBox:

The TenBox TB1000 presents a smooth sound, with no discernable tones. It measured only 34 dbA SPL on the Quiet cooling
setting, which is lower total acoustics than most HD-DVRs

Thermal Testing:

The TenBox system was tested with the SV35.3 500GB SATA drives to find the operating drive base plate temperature.
With the unit performing a continuous access write/read, the drive in slot 1 reached 18.0°C above ambient. Using the linear relationship, the drive temperatures will remain below the specification limit (69°C), even in elevated ambient conditions of up to 40°C. This is an optimal profile, with no changes required, or recommended.

Performance Testing:

Performance was measured in both sequential Read and Write access patterns, and was found to be well above the expected minimums for this usage model.
